Stay up to date on important safety precautions when using propane in your home or business. Improper installation, maintenance, or use of gas-burning appliances, piping, and venting can create dangerous conditions. We have identified potential hazards and provided information on how to be safe around propane and propane installations below.
Propane gas is odorless, but a safe chemical called mercaptan is added to make it smell like rotten eggs. If you smell propane at home or work, call your local FS Propane Specialist immediately.
Ensure everyone at home or work can detect propane odor and access safety instructions in case of a leak. Gas detectors can provide an additional measure of security to detect the presence of propane.
Only qualified service technicians have permission to work on your propane system. Your local FS Propane Specialist can install valves, reconnect pipes, or repair your system after a gas outage. Our specialists check and relight pilot lights for your safety.
